Stansted Airport Facilities
Stansted Airport, in keeping with and international airport of this standard, has a wide range of facilities to offer travellers passing through this busy airport. Facilities that are common to the entire airport are detailed below, while facilities specific to either the North or South Terminal can be found on their own dedicated pages.
Airport Facilities for Children
Toilets
There are unisex toilets on the main concourse and in the departure lounge. These toilets are suitable for parents travelling with children.
There are also toilets with baby-care and nappy-changing facilities throughout the terminal building.
Entertainment
Stansted airport has its own amusements area, with a range of arcade and computer games to amuse children whilst waiting in the airport.
Shopping
There are a number of shops that are suitable for children. Before security, Books etc stocks a range of children's books; while a selection of games, confectionery, comics and books are available in WH Smith.
Books etc and WH Smith also have stores in the terminal building after security. In addition to this, the world famous Hamleys toys have a branch after security.
Eating
There are a number of restaurants serving fast food both before and after the security checks, many of the restaurants cater for children. This includes a branch of the famous Garfunkel's chain, who have a special children's menu.
Airport Facilities for Disabled Travellers
To make the journey as easy as possible, the airport has reserved seating areas for disabled passengers. These areas are equipped with the following:
- Induction loops for hard of hearing passengers.
- Easy wheelchair access
- Arm rests on chairs
- Low level information monitors for ease of vision
Those with hearing impairments can make use of the phones which are fitted with induction couplers, and the textphones which are fitted throughout the terminal building. There is also a minicom (Tel: +44 (0)1279 663725), and a number of staff members are trained in sign-language.
For the visually impaired, airport signage is in distinctive black on yellow.
Airport Facilities for Business
Executive Lounges
Stansted offers child-free executive lounge passes to passengers flying on all airlines. They are available from £17.95 per person.
The lounge is open from 06:00-21:00 every day.
Passengers opting to use the executive lounges will be treated to complimentary snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and a view of the runway.
